Nowadays, in the time of globalisation, it is very important to protect the national identity and to save cultural inheritance in the time of mixed cultures. It is still to be remembered that globalisation with all its advantages has also bad effects.
The positive fact is that each country can depend on the other. The citizens of small countries can feel safer being protected not only by their army but also by the neighbours soldiers. In favour of globalisation is surely the development of industry and the increasing income of export. When there are no borders people are able to look for and find work abroad, travel and become familiar with new people and different cultures.
All that can cause the lack of national identity from generation to generation. The demand for employees who can communicate in English will affect the number of unemployed people. Moreover, the next generations of native speakers will tend to change their language or even stop using it. It is obvious that language is the symbol of society and nation.
The protection of the national identity is the need of great importance. The problem is to keep the identity being tolerant at the same time. Each nation has its own traditional food, festivals and culture. All people should have that in mind and be proud of being unique, because it makes our world so lively and different places worth seeing.
